The North American Ethics and Compliance Counsel plays an important role in promoting JLL’s global corporate compliance program, including assisting the business with implementation of global ethics and compliance programs in areas such as Anti-Money Laundering, Human Rights and Ethics. The role will report to the Head of Ethics & Compliance, Americas and work collaboratively with both the business and the Global Compliance team. This role is part of the Ethics and Compliance Center of Excellence within JLL’s Global Legal function.

In this role, your primary focus will be to establish strategic partnerships with JLL's North American business leaders to effectively promote and implement global compliance policies and programs. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that these policies and programs align with regional laws and regulations and for fostering a culture of ethics and compliance within the organization. Alongside this, you will be responsible for staying informed about newly enacted laws and regulations, effectively communicating their requirements to the relevant stakeholders. This is a hybrid position with an expectation to work in the downtown JLL Office a minimum of 2 days/week. Some travel may be required (very minimal).

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

Collaborate with the Americas Ethics & Compliance (E&C) Head and global E&C team to deliver and enhance JLL's corporate compliance program, focusing on North American compliance.

Develop and provide training on policies, procedures, training, and guidance materials for Canada and the United States to support the objectives of the Global Ethics & Compliance team.

Oversee the implementation and maintenance of compliance systems and technologies for efficient monitoring and reporting in Canada and the United States.

Develop, recommend and advise processes and controls to ensure compliance in such areas as FINTRAC, financial crime and anti-corruption matters, AML, ABAC, fraud detection, conflicts of interest & prevention and market abuse) for multinational companies

Ensure JLL's activities comply with relevant state, Federal, and Provincial regulations.

Stay up to date on regulatory and compliance requirements in Canada and the United States, adjusting company policies and procedures accordingly.

Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory authorities, serving as the primary point of contact for compliance-related communications.

Provide comprehensive reporting and analysis of corporate compliance matters to relevant stakeholders and committees.

Address inquiries and requests from regulators in a timely manner.

Raise significant North American compliance issues and activities to the Americas Head of Ethics & Compliance.

Conduct reviews of processes, procedures, and training North American programs to ensure compliance with policies and proper documentation.

Provide guidance and support to employees in addressing compliance issues, including reviewing client agreements and helping develop remedial actions when needed.

Promote a strong, values-driven ethical culture within the organization.

WHAT YOU BRING :

5+ years of experience and demonstrated capability managing corporate compliance and financial crime risk in Canada and the United States.

Bachelor of Law (LL. B) or J.D. Degree and be a current member of the Ontario Bar Association.

Experience in advising on the implementation of corporate compliance frameworks - policies, procedures and controls

Leader in advising and managing on corporate compliance topics such as financial crime and anti-corruption matters, AML, ABAC, fraud detection, conflicts of interest & prevention and market abuse) for multinational companies.

Self-starting and entrepreneurial with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Super team player

Extensive experience working collaboratively with global teams and a wide range of stakeholders, including relationship management with senior leaders

Bi-lingual is an asset.
