As Senior Advisor, National Programs, you will support the Senior Director, Business and Strategic Planning, and work closely with the entire Corporate Development management team as well as with individuals across the organization. You will lead a range of important, high-impact national projects and initiatives that are growing in importance that drive CBC/Radio-Canada’s corporate strategy, including (but not limited to):

  • Mis- and disinformation: As the national public service media, CBC/Radio-Canada must demonstrate its commitment to combating mis- and disinformation.
  • Public Spaces Incubator: Since 2022, CBC/Radio-Canada has partnered with other PSM in Germany (ARD and ZDF), Belgium (RTBF) and Switzerland (SRG SSR) to design and develop digital products that seek to improve citizen engagement and democratic discourse online.
  • Supporting the Canadian media ecosystem: CBC/Radio-Canada is committed to fostering a healthy media ecosystem and has been consulting with private and community media groups and associations about how we can work together.
  • Other initiatives: New projects may be developed and launched as necessary.

What you will do

  • Develop and implement strategies and tactics to maximize CBC/Radio-Canada’s leadership on key initiatives
  • Monitor activities, trends and research related to key initiatives
  • Continuously explore new opportunities to advance and improve key initiatives in alignment with the changing needs of the media industry and Canadians
  • Ensure effective tracking of daily activities and broader project progress to facilitate ad-hoc reporting and long-term planning
  • Work closely with senior leadership in Corporate Development
  • Build relationships, and continually liaise, with internal CBC and Radio-Canada senior executives
  • Build relationships, and continually liaise, with external partners (e.g. other public service media, partners, other organizations)
  • As required, prepare and present relevant materials to the Corporate Development Team, Senior Executive Team, Board of Directors, and other key internal stakeholders
  • As required, act as a representative of CBC/Radio-Canada to various meetings to advance the Corporation’s public service priorities
  • Manage the operating budget

We are looking for a candidate with the following

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in strategy development, relationship management, project management, journalism, marketing, and/or public service media
  • Full proficiency in English and French (reading, writing, and oral)
  • Experience in relationship management and liaising with third-parties
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable plans
  • Exceptional organizational, logistical, and planning skills
  • Ability to organize, set agendas, manage, and lead meetings (in-person and virtual settings)
  • Highly skilled in the preparation and presentation of communications and meeting materials (including information decks)
  • Ability to negotiate with and present to senior leaders
