We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer, Rock Mechanics to join a well-established geotechnical team in Burnaby. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging rock engineering projects across BC and beyond, combining technical analysis, design, field investigation, and project delivery.
What You’ll Do
- Assess geological conditions and perform rock mass characterization.
- Complete engineering analysis and design for rock slopes, tunnels, underground excavations, foundations, rockfall hazards, and mining-related projects.
- Participate in field investigations, geological mapping, rock core logging, drilling programs, and construction monitoring.
- Perform slope stability and rockfall assessments and support geotechnical instrumentation programs.
- Manage technical tasks and smaller projects from planning through reporting and delivery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and clients.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and staff.
- Apply modern tools and technologies, including photogrammetry, UAVs, and geotechnical modelling software.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Geological, Mining Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related field.
- 10-15 years of geotechnical or rock engineering experience.
- Strong experience in rock engineering, geological mapping, rock mass characterization, and geotechnical analysis.
- P.Eng. or P.Geo. registration with EGBC, or eligibility to transfer registration to BC.
- Ability to independently lead smaller projects and technical assignments.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Interest in mentoring junior staff and contributing to technical development.
- Based in British Columbia or willing to relocate.
