Job Description
MEDFAR is looking for a hands-on IT Systems & Network Administrator to join its Corporate IT team in Montreal. This is a broad infrastructure role for someone who is comfortable moving between systems, networks, endpoints, cloud services and day-to-day user needs.
You will work across MEDFAR’s entities and locations to keep the environment running, improve it over time and help bring the different sites under a common Corporate IT operating model. The role mixes day-to-day support, infrastructure administration, documentation, security work and project delivery.
This is a hands-on generalist role. We need someone who can move from user or endpoint issues to systems, networking or cloud work without being limited to one specialty. The person should take ownership, document what they do and look for practical ways to reduce manual work.
What you’ll do
- Administer and support core business platforms including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID and Azure services.
- Support the day-to-day operation of networks, systems, endpoints and cloud services across MEDFAR locations.
- Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, Wi‑Fi, VPN, DNS, DHCP, Internet and general connectivity issues.
- Support firewall, switching, wireless and remote‑access environments in collaboration with the rest of the IT team and external vendors where required.
- Provision, configure and maintain laptops, workstations and other user devices.
- Manage endpoint lifecycle activities including deployment, patching, software installation, encryption, local-admin access, inventory and retirement.
- Maintain accurate hardware and software asset information and support the physical management of IT equipment in the Montreal office.
- Monitor system and network health, operational alerts, logs and security events; investigate issues and elevate when appropriate.
- Perform routine system administration, maintenance, updates, backup checks and configuration changes.
- Assist with server, storage, cloud and backup operations where required.
- Participate in infrastructure and security improvement projects, including identity, endpoint management, network, cloud and access‑control initiatives.
- Look for repetitive work that can be automated with scripts, APIs or built‑in platform automation.
- Use MEDFAR‑approved AI tools where they add value, for example during troubleshooting, log analysis, documentation or scripting. Review the output before using it and follow MEDFAR security and data‑handling rules.
- Maintain clear documentation for configurations, procedures, network topology, recurring tasks and changes.
- Work with colleagues across MEDFAR’s different locations to share knowledge, improve consistency and reduce dependence on local or undocumented practices.
- Coordinate with vendors, service providers and internal stakeholders when resolving issues or implementing changes.
- Provide practical technical support to employees and help resolve issues that require deeper systems or network knowledge.
Qualifications

- Practical administration experience with Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Experience supporting Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Experience with endpoint administration, device provisioning, patching, software deployment and asset management.
- Solid networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Wi‑Fi, VPNs and firewalls.
- Working knowledge of Windows endpoints and common business applications.
- Exposure to Azure or other cloud infrastructure and services.
- Good understanding of security fundamentals such as MFA, least privilege, endpoint protection, patching and incident escalation.
