DuroByte is seeking a hands‑on Vision and Motion Controls Specialist to design, program, integrate, and optimise advanced industrial machine‑vision, robotic, and motion‑control systems. This customer‑facing role will support automation projects throughout the full lifecycle, from concept and component selection through development, integration, commissioning, training, and ongoing customer support.

YOUR DAY TO DAY

  • Design, configure, programme, and commission industrial machine-vision systems for inspection, measurement, identification, defect detection, robot guidance, and related applications.
  • Develop and optimise image-acquisition, calibration, lighting, lensing, pattern-matching, classification, and image-processing solutions for production environments.
  • Integrate vision systems with industrial robots, PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, conveyors, safety devices, databases, and plant networks.
  • Programme and optimise robotic and motion-control applications involving positioning, tracking, pick-and-place, material handling, and machine interaction.
  • Select cameras, lenses, lighting, sensors, robotics, servo drives, motors, controls hardware, and communication architectures based on project requirements.
  • Develop custom software, scripts, and algorithms using tools such as Python, C++, C#, OpenCV, or vendor-specific development environments.
  • Apply machine-learning or deep-learning techniques to complex inspection, recognition, classification, or robotic-perception challenges where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, project management, manufacturing, and technical teams to develop safe, reliable, and maintainable automation solutions.
  • Perform system testing, debugging, validation, capability studies, and performance optimisation under production conditions.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, communication, calibration, lighting, image-quality, robot-path, and motion-control issues during integration and commissioning.
  • Prepare technical documentation, operating instructions, calibration procedures, software backups, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Provide technical demonstrations, customer training, knowledge transfer, and ongoing support to operators, maintenance personnel, engineers, and other end users.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience developing, integrating, or supporting industrial machine‑vision, robotic, or motion‑control solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial machine‑vision principles, including cameras, lenses, lighting, image acquisition, calibration, image processing, inspection tools, and application validation.
  • Experience integrating machine‑vision systems with PLCs, HMIs, industrial robots, servo systems, and automated machinery.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, C#, or a comparable programming language, with strong software‑debugging and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience with machine‑vision platforms such as Cognex, Keyence, Teledyne DALSA, SICK, Zebra, OpenCV, or comparable technologies is preferred.
  • Experience with industrial robotic platforms such as FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, or Universal Robots is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Omron, or other PLC and industrial‑control platforms is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of industrial networks and communication protocols, including EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, TCP/IP, Modbus TCP, or OPC UA.
  • Experience with machine learning, TensorFlow, PyTorch, ROS, or comparable technologies is considered an asset.
  • Automotive, system‑integration, custom‑machine‑building, or advanced‑manufacturing experience is considered an asset.
  • A valid driver’s licence and passport, with the ability to travel within Canada, the United States, and internationally as required.
  • Legal authorisation to work in Canada and the ability to satisfy customer‑site requirements, which may include background checks or drug and alcohol screening.
