About CANCEA:
The Canadian Centre for Economic Analysis (CANCEA) is the largest socio-economic simulation platform in Canada, supporting over 400 organizations with their economic and market analysis needs. Our work spans a variety of topics, including municipal growth planning, healthcare, infrastructure, housing, and economic development. We also provide high-resolution market network modeling services, such as credit risk analysis, using our unique ‘digital twinning’ simulation platform, the only one of its kind in Canada.
Position: Senior Economist
Overview:
CANCEA is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Economist to join our Regional Economic Modelling Group. This senior role offers the potential for promotion to a leadership position within our professional services group.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct economic analysis, forecasts, and economic impact assessments.
- Write comprehensive reports and conduct research activities to enhance the competitive standing of our consulting and policy business.
- Utilize CANCEA’s proprietary agent-based model of the Canadian economy and financial system.
- Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of economic theories, principles, and methodologies.
- Ability to analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and econometric modeling.
- Familiarity with Canadian economic regulations and policies.
- Knowledge of specific industries relevant to clients (e.g., energy, healthcare, finance).
Managerial Skills:
- Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables efficiently.
- Skill in developing and implementing business strategies and plans.
- Proficiency in managing day-to-day operations and ensuring smooth workflow.
- Effective management of human, financial, and material resources.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for presenting findings and recommendations.
- Ability to negotiate contracts, fees, and service agreements with clients.
- Skill in leading and motivating a team of professionals.

- Ability to think critically and solve complex problems.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality of work.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing economic conditions and client needs.
- Strong ethical standards and integrity in all professional dealings.
- Ability to network with industry professionals, potential clients, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of direct Canadian business professional experience in economic advisory services.
- At least a Master’s degree in economics.
- Passionate about finding solutions and has strong writing and communication skills.
