Our esteemed Calgary-based boutique financial services firm is seeking a Group Benefits & Retirement Consultant to join their expanding team. With a unique, integrated approach encompassing financial services, mortgage services, estate law, accounting, and general insurance, they offer clients a seamless, all-encompassing experience. Their culture thrives on collaboration, innovation, and professional excellence, making this an exciting opportunity for a dynamic advisor ready to make an impact.

The Role

As a Group Benefits & Retirement Consultant, you will play a critical role in servicing and growing an established portfolio of corporate clients. This position is ideal for a strategic thinker with a strong client-service focus, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a passion for delivering tailored benefits and retirement solutions.

While the primary focus (80%) is on maintaining and enhancing relationships with existing clients, a key aspect of the role involves identifying and capitalizing on business development opportunities within the firm's client network and your own professional connections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consultative Client Advising – Assess corporate clients' group benefits and retirement needs, providing strategic guidance and customized solutions that align with their long-term objectives.
  • Plan Management & Renewals – Oversee the annual renewal process, delivering detailed analysis, clear recommendations, and proactive communication to support informed client decisions.
  • Implementation & Onboarding – Lead the transition process for new benefits and retirement programs, ensuring a seamless experience and fostering confidence from day one.
  • Client Engagement & Retention – Cultivate long-term client relationships through proactive outreach, expert insights, and ongoing plan optimizations.
  • Responsive Support & Problem-Solving – Act as a trusted advisor for clients, addressing inquiries and adjustments with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Expertise – Ensure all plans adhere to provincial regulations and industry best practices, maintaining the firm's reputation for integrity and excellence.
  • Education & Communication – Develop and deliver informative sessions for clients, empowering them to make well-informed decisions about their benefits and retirement programs.
  • Market Intelligence & Business Growth – Monitor industry trends and competitor offerings to identify opportunities for enhanced solutions and strategic cross-selling within the existing client base.
  • CRM & Data Management – Maintain detailed records of client interactions, plan specifications, and key performance metrics to ensure seamless service and ongoing client satisfaction.

What You Bring

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in group benefits and retirement advising, with at least 2-3 years on the brokerage side.
  • A valid life insurance license and industry designations (GBA, RPA, or CEBS preferred).
  • A strong track record in client relationship management and consultative advising.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with proven business development success.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills to engage and educate clients effectively.
  • A Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with industry software and CRM systems.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented approach to client service and problem-solving.

What Sets You Apart

  • A self-motivated, client-first approach with a passion for delivering value.
  • Strong project management skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • An established professional network within the Calgary business community.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Why Join?

  • Work with a highly skilled team in a firm that values innovation and collaboration.
  • Enjoy a dynamic, flexible work environment that supports growth and autonomy.
  • Gain access to cross-disciplinary expertise across financial services, insurance, and more.
  • Competitive compensation, profit-sharing opportunities, and a strong benefits package.
  • Ongoing professional development and career advancement support.
  • A results-driven culture that promotes work-life balance.
