Position: Construction Labourer – Entry Level
Department: Construction / Remote Site Operations
Reports To: Site Supervisor, Construction Supervisor, or Project Manager
Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
Schedule: 4 Weeks On / 2 Weeks Off Rotation
Location: Lake Lodge, Nunavut – Fly-In/Fly-Out

Job Summary
We are seeking motivated and dependable Entry-Level Construction/Carpentry Labourer to join our team at the Lake Lodge remote site in Nunavut.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in construction and remote-site operations. Previous carpentry experience is an asset. We are looking for individuals who are willing to learn, work safely, take direction, and contribute positively as part of a team.
The Construction/carpentry Labourer will support skilled tradespeople, supervisors, and other site personnel with a variety of general construction and site-maintenance activities. Duties may include moving materials, loading and unloading supplies, maintaining clean and organized work areas, snow and ice removal, assisting with basic construction activities, and performing other general labour duties as assigned.
The successful candidate must be comfortable performing physically demanding work during 12-hour shifts and living and working in a remote northern environment on a 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotational schedule.
Safety is a critical component of this role. Employees are expected to comply with all client-specific safety requirements, including WHMIS, hazard assessments, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), toolbox talks, and established safe-work procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Construction & General Labour Duties
- Assist skilled tradespeople and construction crews with day-to-day construction activities.
- Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials, equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Move freight and materials to designated work and storage areas.
- Assist with the setup and cleanup of construction work areas.
- Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free workspaces.
- Perform basic manual labour tasks using hand tools and other approved equipment.
- Assist with material preparation and handling as directed by supervisors or trades personnel.
- Remove construction debris and dispose of waste in designated areas according to site requirements.
- Assist with receiving, sorting, staging, and distributing materials and supplies.
- Support site setup, mobilization, demobilization, and general project activities as required.
- Perform snow and ice removal around work areas, walkways, entrances, emergency exits, and access points.
- Use shovels, snow-removal equipment, ice-melt products, and caution signage as required.
- Assist with general site maintenance and housekeeping duties.
- Report damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, hazards, spills, maintenance concerns, or other safety issues immediately.
- Support emergency cleanup or site-maintenance activities when required.
- Perform additional general labour duties based on project and operational requirements.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all Kitikmeot Solutions and our client health and safety policies and procedures.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times while performing assigned duties.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, hazard assessments, as required.
- Identify and report workplace hazards and unsafe conditions immediately.
- Follow established safe-work procedures when using tools, equipment, and handling materials.
- Maintain awareness of surrounding equipment, vehicles, construction activities, and changing site conditions.
- Use proper lifting and material-handling techniques.
- Immediately report injuries, incidents, near misses, and damaged equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
- Stop work and seek direction when a task cannot be completed safely.
- Contribute to a workplace culture where safety is everyone's responsibility.
