Role Description: Nutrition ManagerMission:As the Nutrition Manager, you will play a key role in fulfilling Extendicare’s purpose ofHelping People Live Better by leading culinary operations within a long‑term care home.
Using a person-centered approach, you will lead and inspire your team to deliverpleasurable dining experiences that promote the wellbeing and quality of life of ourresidents. The Nutrition Manager is an operational leader who works collaboratively with theinterdisciplinary team and key stakeholders to advance Extendicare’s mission to providepeople with the care they need, wherever they call home.

Lead and develop a high-performing food service team that demonstratesExtendicare’s values and delivers exceptional service to our residents and families
Positively impact residents’ nutrition and enrichment through pleasurable diningexperiences
Ensure accurate and timely provision of menu items reflective of each Resident’splan of care
Effectively and efficiently manage the day-to-day culinary operations for the home
Support the home’s financial health by proactively managing the food and foodservice supplies budget, monitoring spending, and meeting financial targets
Maintain compliance with provincial legislation, company policies, regulatorystandards, and collective bargaining agreements across all culinary operationsfunctions within a unionized environmentKey

Responsibilities:

Providing sustained support and actively participating in quality improvementprocesses and development of quality improvement plans
Achieving Resident Satisfaction and Employee Engagement targets
Managing the food service for residents with a focus on their individualizednutritional plan of care
Working with the multidisciplinary team along with residents and families tocustomize personalized menus
Ensuring food and fluid interventions (as per resident’s plan of care) are preparedand served appropriately
Ensuring menu items provided meet the assessed needs of the residents
Collaborating closely with dietitians and dietary team members to ensure servicedelivery is consistently compliant with organizational policies, procedures, and allapplicable legislation and regulatory requirements
Ensuring the team is following required infection prevention and control and foodsafety guidelines
ONTARIO ONLY: Completing low and moderate routine resident nutritionassessments as delegated by the Registered Dietitian (RD)
Maintaining operation excellence within defined budget
Managing vendor and community partnerships related to the delivery of culinaryservices
Hiring, training and engaging a team of dietary staff to deliver quality nutritionand culinary services in a unionized environment
Taking a hands-on approach to leading, mentoring, and helping the dietary teamas requiredQualifications:
ONTARIO ONLY: Current membership with the Canadian Society of NutritionManagement (CSNM) or Registered Dietitian
Valid Food Safety Handler's Certificate
Minimum of three (3) years of relevant dietary experience and one (1) year ofleadership experience
Passion for food production, food service and long-term care
Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable SectorCheck (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain oneCore Competencies (included for posting only):
