Job Overview

The Renewable Energy Analyst will play a pivotal role in supporting the planning, monitoring and optimization of Enel Green Power’s renewable assets in the Kimberley region and beyond. Reporting to the Senior Energy Analyst, the incumbent will be responsible for data collection, performance analysis, market research and the preparation of insightful reports that guide strategic decision‑making. Key Responsibilities

• Collect, validate and analyze operational data from wind, solar and hydro plants to assess performance against key performance indicators.
• Develop and maintain forecasting models for energy production, taking into account weather patterns, equipment availability and market conditions.
• Prepare detailed monthly and quarterly performance reports for senior management, investors and regulatory bodies.
• Conduct market research on emerging renewable technologies, policy developments and competitive landscape in South Africa and the broader Southern African region.
• Support the preparation of feasibility studies for new project proposals, including resource assessment, financial modelling and risk analysis.
• Collaborate with the Operations, Engineering and Finance teams to identify optimization opportunities and implement corrective actions.
• Assist in the development of sustainability metrics and carbon accounting reports aligned with international standards.
• Participate in stakeholder engagement activities, including community outreach and government liaison, to ensure project compliance and social license.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in Excel, PowerBI or similar data visualization tools.
• Experience with statistical software such as R, Python or MATLAB for modeling and forecasting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating complex data into clear insights.
• Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, especially wind and solar PV systems.
• Understanding of South African energy regulations, NERSA guidelines and renewable procurement frameworks.
• Ability to work independently and as part of cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced environment.
• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple priorities.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Renewable Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Economics or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer, PMP) are considered an advantage.

Experience

Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in energy analysis, renewable project development, or a similar role within the power sector. Experience with data analytics, performance monitoring or market research in the South African context will be highly valued.
