Responsibilities


General Accounting, Month-end close, Financial Reporting

  • Closing of Books in ERP system (SAP), consolidations of financial results in Hyperion (HFM) and reconciliation of the G/L to HFM
  • Comply with Group / Parent Accounting standards and reporting requirements.
  • Managing relationships with the Group Controlling function, including data analysis, compliance and reporting needs.
  • Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting activities
  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
  • Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
  • Assisting with the budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
  • Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
  • Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff
  • Administer and Account for Sales commissions and other Incentive programs


Financial Analysis

  • Understanding of sales and margins and how they impact the Financial Statements; ability to analyze volume and mix impact on operating income.
  • The ability to add value through timely, actionable analysis and drive a robust decision making process around customers, new products and programmed selling.
  • Ability to work with the Commercial teams to accurately forecast sales and margin.
  • Responsible for the calculation and reporting of variable compensation plans for the Commercial Team.
  • Monitors routine transactions for low margins and works with Sales and Marketing Departments to increase profitability as required.
  • Provides financial analysis, planning and budget control.
  • Advises on profitability of lines of business and products.
  • Must establish and maintain work relationships with all levels through a high degree of professionalism and excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Strong alignment with other departments (logistics, production, sales and information technology).
  • Identification of cost savings opportunities and efficiency gains.


Budgeting, Forecasting & Expense Reporting

  • Focus on Profit and Loss improvement and defining key performance indicators.
  • Builds and maintains business plans and defines ways to identify gaps and opportunities.
  • Provides financial analysis, planning and budget control.
  • Must establish and maintain work relationships with all levels through a high degree of professionalism and excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Strong alignment with other departments (logistics, production, sales and information technology).
  • Manage the assigned budget against competing investments and other resources.
  • Annual budget preparation including collaborating with department managers.
  • Establish the financial aims and objectives of the business unit.


Define and implement proper business and financial controls to ensure safeguarding of company assets

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls.
  • Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts.
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.


Manage Treasury and Cash Processes

  • Ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are completed.
  • Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
  • Develop and analyze a monthly cash flow forecast.


Direct the annual external audits

  • Experience working with external audit firms to ensure timely and efficient annual audits and transfer pricing.
  • Able to work with regulatory bodies and able to communicate well across the entire Habasit organization.


Manage all aspects of Income Tax, Provincial Tax and Sales Tax reporting

  • Ability to work with tax experts to ensure the proper payment and filing of all taxes for Habasit.
  • Develops required appraisal/financial modeling for property tax valuation and analysis.
  • Works with Tax Advisors to support tax positions.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Work with external tax software vendors to complete Sales & Use Tax accounting


Education and Experience

  • 4-year college degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 7 to 10 years related work experience in accounting and/or finance in an operating environment with in depth knowledge of GAAP.
  • Experience working for an international company
  • Experience using Windows, MS Office, Hyperion (HFM), ERP Software (SAP).
  • Prior supervision of accounting function.
  • Preferred - Certified Public Accountant (CPA), MBA or equivalent.
  • Preferred - Experience with year-end audit, audit schedule preparation.


Competencies

To be successful in this role, this individual should have extensive experience working in a manufacturing or service company with direct experience in supporting the Commercial Selling and Marketing organization. They should have a deep understanding of sales and margins and how they impact the Financial Statements. The ability to add value through timely, actionable analysis and drive a robust decision making process around customers, new products and programmed selling. Ability to work with the Commercial teams to accurately forecast sales and margin.
