We support mine owners, EPCMs, and contractors by providing experienced construction management, supervision, and HSE professionals capable of operating effectively in challenging and sensitive operating environments.We are currently seeking an HSE Lead to support a remote surface mining construction site in Northern British Columbia. This role is critical to ensuring safe, compliant, and respectful project execution while maintaining strong working relationships with contractors and local stakeholders.Position OverviewThe HSE Lead is the senior onsite health, safety, and environment representative for MineSpec and the client. This role requires a hands-on, field-oriented professional who is capable of taking direction, identifying issues in real time, and ensuring they are resolved effectively and professionally.The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a surface mining and heavy civil construction environment, working closely with multiple contractors, and navigating sensitive working relationships. This is not a desk-based role; it requires regular field presence, practical problem-solving, and leadership by example.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide onsite leadership for all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activitiesImplement and maintain HSE programs, procedures, and standards in alignment with client and regulatory requirementsMaintain a strong field presence, identifying hazards, unsafe conditions, and environmental risks, and ensuring timely corrective actionSupport and oversee contractor HSE performance, ensuring consistent expectations and complianceLead or support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action trackingConduct and support site inspections, audits, and safety meetingsProvide HSE coaching and mentoring to supervisors, foremen, and crewsSupport environmental compliance activities, including monitoring, reporting, and issue resolutionPrepare and maintain HSE reporting and documentationBuild and maintain strong working relationships with contractors, client representatives, and local stakeholdersPromote a culture of respect, accountability, and continuous improvement in safety and environmental performanceQualifications & ExperienceMinimum 5+ years of experience in a Health, Safety, and Environment roleProven experience working in construction within a surface mining environmentPrior experience working on an active mine site is requiredStrong understanding of construction safety systems, hazard management, and regulatory complianceDemonstrated ability to operate as a self-directed, hands-on “doer”Comfortable working directly with contractors and addressing issues in the fieldStrong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in relationship-sensitive environmentsPost-secondary education or formal HSE training is considered an asset but not mandatoryRelevant certifications (e.g., CRSP, NCSO, or equivalent) are considered assetsWork Arrangement & TravelFIFO rotation: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks offRemote site located in Northern British ColumbiaCharter flights provided from multiple Western Canada / BC hubsCamp-based accommodation during rotationsWhat We OfferLong-term opportunity with potential for continued work on future phases or projectsCompetitive compensation aligned with experienceFIFO schedule (2 weeks on / 2 weeks off) providing structured time offCommercial travel covered to and from designated charter hubsCamp-based accommodation during site rotationsRRSP matching programGroup health and dental benefitsOpportunity to work in a high-responsibility HSE leadership role on a remote mining projectSupport from MineSpec’s experienced technical and operational teamHow to ApplyQualified candidates are invited to apply with a resume highlighting relevant mining, construction, and HSE experience.
