Fractional Chief Financial Officer


Reports to: CEO

Location: Onsite and Remote options available


Azolla Hydrogen is a growing company providing hydrogen fuel solutions to North American companies in the transportation sector looking to transition from a default reliance on fossil fuels.


We are seeking an experienced and strategic Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, with a particular emphasis on debt financing and equity raises. As the CFO, you will play a critical role in shaping the financial strategy of the company, driving financial performance, and ensuring the overall financial health and sustainability of the organization.


ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Leading the organization’s corporate financial strategy, including but not limited to establishing and maintaining the organization’s financial statement models, capital allocation process, significant liquidity event readiness, ad-hoc project analysis and providing leadership during the strategic planning process.
  • Undertaking budget development in line with strategic priorities; monitoring, updating, and communicating adjustments to the budget as needed during the course of the annual cycle; ensuring adherence to budgets.
  • Manage cash flow and liquidity of the company, and its ability to meet its short-term and long-term financial obligations and goals.
  • Managing the company's capital structure, debt financing, and working capital, and optimizing the use of financial resources.
  • Monthly P&L analysis and reporting to the CEO and the Board.
  • Responsibility for identification and reporting of key financial risks.
  • Establishing and overseeing corporate KPIs and related processes.
  • Manage existing debt obligations and lead efforts to secure additional debt financing for various business initiatives, including but not limited to equipment financing, working capital, and growth projects.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of private placement equity raises and develop and maintain relationships with investors, venture capitalists, and other equity stakeholders.
  • Preparation of financial reporting to the Board, shareholders, and lenders.
  • Ensuring all financial transactions are processed and recorded accurately; in line with generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory requirements if any.
  • Providing guidance and oversight for the preparation of the year-end package and establishing and maintaining a relationship with the accounting firm.
  • Ensuring all tax filings and remittances are met; corresponding with the relevant tax authorities as required.
  • Building cash flow models that support risk/benefit analysis of operating in different jurisdictions as required.


EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in a corporate finance and/or accounting role.
  • Superior leadership skills with proven experience managing teams.
  • Strong background in financial management, with a particular emphasis on debt financing and equity raises.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to recommend innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation and collaboration skills.
  • Strong relationship management, influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Operates effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic and entrepreneurial environment with changing priorities.
  • Proficient in MS Excel & PowerPoint tools.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and/or Master of Business Administration (MBA) is required.
