Our client is seeking a hands‑on LiDAR Systems Specialist responsible for developing and deploying 3D scanning and data solutions for mining operations. This is a hybrid role based in Saskatoon that requires 3 days onsite. One year contract with the strong possibility of extension. Must haves: Hands‑on
LiDAR / 3D scanning experience
— experience working directly with LiDAR systems and point‑cloud data. Strong software development experience — hands‑on programming experience, ideally with
Python and/or C++. 3D data processing
experience — experience with point‑cloud processing, registration, calibration, 3D mapping, reconstruction, or related spatial/3D data applications. Hands‑on
field deployment
experience — experience taking technology from development into a real‑world environment, including installation, configuration, commissioning, troubleshooting, or ongoing support. Nice to have: SLAM / LiDAR-inertial SLAM Robotics or computer vision Multi‑sensor systems Volumetric measurement / inventory applications Mining, underground mining, or other industrial environments Sensor fusion / wheel odometry ROS/ROS2, Open3D, PCL or similar Industrial integrations such as SCADA, historians, survey, mine planning or ERP Experience designing physical mounts, enclosures, power or ruggedized field systems What You Will Do Build and deploy LiDAR and 3D scanning systems used in mining operations, from sensor setup and calibration through data processing and visualization. Develop software that turns LiDAR and point‑cloud data into actionable 3D information, including mapping, reconstruction, and volumetric measurement. Build the data pipelines and web‑based tools that make 3D scanning results accessible to operations and engineering teams. Take systems into the field — install, commission, calibrate, troubleshoot, and improve them at operating sites, including underground environments. Work closely with mining operations, engineering, survey, automation, and IT/OT teams to turn innovative 3D scanning technology into reliable operational solutions.
