We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced yet supportive environment and who brings a combination of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a collaborative spirit.What is in it for you?Low Turnover with Tenured Teams: Be part of a stable environment where existing teams have deep industry knowledge and long-standing relationships.Growth Through Acquisitions: Join a company that's expanding operations strategically, creating opportunities for internal career advancement.Career Development: Become a key player in an organization that prioritizes investing in employees' growth and upward mobility.Technology-Driven: Lead the charge in automating financial reporting and implementing ERP/dashboards for smarter, faster decision-making.Key Responsibilities:Accounting and Financial Reporting (ASPE)Oversee financial reporting across Canadian and US business units, ensuring timely, accurate, and insights-driven consolidation on a monthly, quarterly, trailing 12-month, and annual basis.Conduct robust variance analyses and close month-end processes within 10 business days, including workbook updates and intercompany reconciliations.Oversee inventory valuation considerations (e.g., tariffs, landed costs, purchase discounts) and performance metrics across numerous product lines.Tax ComplianceManage corporate tax reporting and timely compliance across Canada and the United States, including transfer pricing arrangements.Collaborate with external tax advisors on complex filings for federal, state/provincial, and local requirements.Strategic Financial InitiativesSupport M& A due diligence, post-acquisition integration, and financial modeling for strategic growth initiatives.Forecast trends in working capital, backlogs, pricing margins, and customer/supplier behavior to optimize business decisions.Drive cost reduction via operational synergies during integrations.Technology LeadershipSpearhead ERP system implementations, creating real-time KPI dashboards for more efficient decision-making.Leverage AI and automation tools (e.g., BI tools, Expensify) to streamline tasks while maintaining rigorous controls.Management & CollaborationPartner with cross-functional teams (sales, operations, IT) to align financial strategy with broader business objectives.Simplify communication of financial insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Qualifications & Experience:Education: CPA designation is required; 8-10 years of progressive experience in senior finance roles. Minimum of 5 years in a Controller capacity.Expertise: Significant knowledge of ASPE financial reporting for multi-entity distribution businesses and a strong handle on inventory costing with cost of goods sold (COGS) dynamics.Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with ERP systems, financial modeling, database queries, and advanced proficiency in Excel.
