Overview This role evaluates existing buildings and design solutions to clients’ complex and unique problems. Projects involve residential, multifamily and commercial work with emphasis on fire, wind, flood and impact damage repair, adaptive reuse of older buildings, and upgrading existing facilities to accommodate changes in use and equipment installation. Candidate Profile / Qualifications Education Degree in civil or building engineering from an accredited university. Professional engineer (P.Eng.) designation in any Atlantic Canada province (additional provinces are an asset). Experience 10+ years in building engineering and structural restoration. Experience managing teams and training junior staff. Consultative sales, business development or account management experience. Consulting engineering firm experience is an asset. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Skills Excellent communication in both French and English (verbal and written). Commitment to customer service and technical excellence. Team spirit, independence and attention to detail. Proven leadership and project management skills. In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials and systems. Adaptability to changing priorities and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Main Responsibilities Supervise and train junior staff; manage group production. Coordinate with other engineering and architectural disciplines. Manage projects and assist clients at all stages from design to construction and contract administration. Provide technical support and oversee the review of completed work prior to delivery to the client. Carry out on‑site surveys and assessments of building structures and envelopes. Develop rehabilitation programs and recommend project concepts. Design and analyze building components and systems. Prepare reports, studies, drawings and quotes for renovation and refurbishment work. Market and solicit projects from new and existing clients. Collect data to prepare studies and reports for capital expenditure projects. Investigate and diagnose building problems. Ensure site quality, project management and contract administration. Liaise with clients, contractors and manufacturers. Prepare and monitor project proposals and quotations and ensure deadlines are met. Business Development Contribute to the sales and marketing plan and manage client relationships. Identify and pursue prospective clients and develop new business opportunities. Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel Requirements Work performed in office and on‑site at industrial, construction or residential sites. Capacity to stand, walk, climb ladders, and perform moderate lifting up to 50 pounds. May require overtime and up to 30% local travel; occasional out‑of‑area or overnight travel possible.
