The Opportunity

This position requires a Buyer to develop, analyze, negotiate, and administer services or material purchase orders and contracts. This individual will take a leading role in the competitive bid process, including RFP development, supplier evaluation and selection, contract negotiation and issuing purchase orders.


Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Oversee the competitive bidding process for material and services, which includes development of documents and management of the entire bidding procedure.
  • Develop, negotiate, and administer contracts.
  • Handle contract modifications, amendments, and resolve any disputes.
  • Generate and manage purchase orders, while ensuring all commitments are fulfilled and any issues are properly resolved.
  • Contribute to the formulation of sourcing strategies.
  • Engage in process improvement initiatives.
  • Other responsibilities and tasks as required.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Post Secondary degree or diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance or other related fields.
  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), or equivalent Certified Supply Chain Leader (CSCL) is preferred; or working towards SCMP or CSCL designation.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience is required; 7 or more years is preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of legal terms and conditions.
  • Advanced computer skills, including SAP and Oracle is an asset.
  • Strong negotiation and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Results driven with ability to manage multiple complex tasks concurrently.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
