The Role
The Senior Purchasing Agent is a pivotal role responsible for spearheading corporate-wide procurement initiatives throughout the United States and Canada. This position entails the strategic management of commodities, supplies, and equipment essential for industrial settings. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a profound capability in managing costs, maintaining optimal inventory levels, enhancing service delivery, and executing vendor negotiations to ensure the timely provision of precise products and information to each company site. Critically, this role includes supervisory responsibilities, overseeing the professional development and daily activities of 2-3 team members.
Schedule
- Flex-time from Monday to Friday
- Availability for weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with organizational goals;
- Engage with vendors across North America to foster robust supplier relationships;
- Conduct negotiations to secure advantageous terms and cost-effective resources;
- Evaluate bids from multiple sources to ensure competitive pricing and service excellence;
- Implement cost-reduction strategies without compromising quality or service;
- Maintain inventory levels to support ongoing operational demands;
- Offer consultative support to Operations regarding cost-effective solutions for industrial cleaning and facility management;
- Manage purchasing budgets with a focus on fiscal efficiency;
- Utilize advanced procurement tools to streamline supply chain processes and enhance performance metrics.
Qualifications
- At least 5-7 years of experience in Purchasing within industrial sectors, preferably in commercial/industrial cleaning;
- Proven track record in vendor negotiations and supply chain management;
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial management;
- Expertise in MS Office, Google, Jonas;
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills;
- Capability to manage multiple, concurrent projects with meticulous attention to detail;
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Purchasing/Buying, or related field;
- Willingness to travel within Canada and cross borders as required;
- Must be able to commute to Markham, ON.
