The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Waterloo invites applications for the following faculty position with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2026. Teaching Stream Assistant Professor in the area of Microelectronic Circuits: candidates with exceptional teaching skills and, ideally, a documented ability to teach large undergraduate engineering courses. A background spanning the range of analog and digital microelectronic circuits is highly desirable. A record of effective administrative service is an asset, especially if it involves contributions to curriculum development. Applicants must have a PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. For teaching-stream faculty, while teaching is the primary duty, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to take part in other aspects of teaching, research, and university governance. The initial appointment will be for a 3-year probationary term, with a possibility of renewal for a second probationary term, and formal consideration for permanence thereafter based on outstanding performance.The successful applicant is required to have an engineering license for practice (full) or teaching (limited) in Canada, or to apply for a Canadian engineering license within the first year of joining the University. Due to program accreditation requirements, all new faculty members are required to obtain the license within five years of initial appointment at the University of Waterloo and maintain it during their employment at the University.The salary will be based on qualification, rank hired, and experience of the candidate, and can be expected to be typically ranging from $100,000 to $140,000, annually. For exceptionally qualified candidates, a higher annual salary will be considered.
