Site Superintendent – Commercial & Institutional Construction📍 Ottawa, ON🕒 Full-Time | Reports to: Director of Construction / Project ManagerHaven Building Group Inc. is expanding its presence in commercial and institutional construction, with a growing portfolio of building envelope restoration, renovations, and commercial fit-ups. We are seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to lead on-site execution, coordination, and safety while working closely with Project Managers and the broader construction team.This role is ideal for a senior site professional who takes ownership of site operations, leads trades with confidence, and consistently delivers high-quality work in active, complex environments.Key ResponsibilitiesSite Leadership & ExecutionTake full responsibility for day-to-day site operations on commercial and institutional construction projects.Lead, coordinate, and supervise subcontractors, trades, and site personnel.Ensure work is executed in accordance with drawings, specifications, schedules, and quality standards.Maintain site organization, logistics, and sequencing to support efficient progress.Schedule & Productivity ManagementDevelop and maintain short-interval and look-ahead schedules in alignment with the master project schedule.Coordinate daily and weekly activities to ensure productivity and minimize downtime.Identify schedule risks and proactively work with the Project Manager to implement solutions.Quality Control & ComplianceEnforce quality control standards and conduct regular site inspections.Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, building codes, and applicable regulations.Identify deficiencies early and ensure corrective actions are implemented.Health & Safety LeadershipEnforce company and regulatory health & safety requirements on site.Lead daily safety activities, toolbox talks, and site orientations.Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all applicable legislation.Coordination & CommunicationCoordinate site activities with consultants, inspectors, and authorities having jurisdiction.Participate in site meetings and provide clear, accurate reporting on progress, issues, and risks.Maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate site records, including daily reports, photos, safety documentation, and deficiency tracking.Support the Project Manager with progress updates, RFIs, and field-level documentation.Assist with tracking site-related changes, delays, and issues.Project CloseoutSupport project closeout activities, including deficiencies, inspections, and turnover documentation.Ensure site readiness for inspections, occupancy, and handover.Maintain a clean, safe, and professional site through completion.Qualifications & ExperienceMinimum 5 years of experience as a Site Superintendent on commercial or institutional construction projects.Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, drawings, and specifications.Solid knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and quality control practices.Proven ability to lead trades, manage site logistics, and resolve field issues.Strong communication and organizational skills.Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with Project Managers.Experience with building envelope restoration, renovations, or fit-ups is considered an asset.What We OfferCompetitive salary with performance-based bonusesProfit sharingVehicle per diem or company vehicle (role dependent)Comprehensive health & dental benefits from day oneGenerous pension plan, plus optional RRSP and TFSA programsPaid time off and statutory holidaysCompany-provided PPE and safety equipmentLong-term growth and advancement opportunitiesSupportive, respectful, and collaborative work environmentHow to ApplyInterested candidates are invited to submit their resume to hr@havenbuildinggroup.ca with the subject line:“Site Superintendent Application.”Join Haven Building Group Inc. and play a key role in delivering high-quality commercial and institutional construction projects across Ottawa.
