Director, Credit Risk Strategy - Unsecured Lending Accelerate Her Future® is seeking an experienced Credit Risk Strategist to lead and expand credit risk management across our unsecured lending portfolio. This role reports to the Vice President, Retail Risk, Unsecured Lending and will develop, execute, and refine risk strategies, policies, procedures, and systems. Responsibilities Ensure credit decisions are aligned with the bank’s risk appetite, optimizing risk/return over the long‑term. Drive continuous improvement in strategy effectiveness, leveraging champion/challenger approaches to validate assumptions and justify changes. Monitor portfolio performance, identify trends and drivers, and create plug‑in packages for credit committee and senior leadership reviews. Identify root causes, formulate and implement credit risk strategies to reverse unfavorable trends. Collaborate across the consumer credit lifecycle (origination, account management, collections, etc.) to achieve shared profitable growth objectives within the risk appetite. Lead a high‑performing team of risk analysts and data scientists, assessing and up‑skilling talent as needed. Utilize risk technologies, data reporting, and analytics to optimize strategies, policies, and business rules, with deep understanding of credit bureau data. Support business line initiatives and cross‑functional projects, ensuring all strategic priorities are consistent with the Risk Appetite Framework. Provide data‑storytelling and insights to senior leadership, influencing partners in data infrastructure, modelling, fraud and internal audit. Qualifications Minimum 5 years’ experience in credit risk management within financial services, specifically unsecured lending products. Bachelor’s degree in business, statistics, economics or finance required; MBA, CFA or FRM strongly preferred. Proven data analytics and logical thinking skills, with hands‑on experience in SAS, SQL, R, Python and reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI. At least 5 years of people‑management experience and strong project‑management and leadership abilities. Excellent communication, written and verbal, with solid deductive reasoning, sound judgment and data storytelling. Strong executive presence and the ability to adapt communication style to diverse audiences.
