We're partnering with Broder Electric, a leading electrical contracting company in Ottawa, to find a talented Estimator to join their team. As an Estimator, you'll play a critical role in driving business growth by analyzing blueprints, preparing detailed estimates, and managing subtrade work. You'll work closely with project managers to ensure project success and identify opportunities to increase profitability.Required skills and qualificationsTrades or electrical experience is an asset, but not required1-3 years of Estimator experience is ideal, but transferable skills from other roles will be consideredStrong analytical and procedural skills with attention to detail and precisionExcellent judgement and decision-making skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude and ability to get along with othersBilingualism is an assetHigh level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to maintaining a respectful and professional imageAbility to handle stress, failure, and rejection with a sense of humorDuties may include, but are not limited toAnalyze blueprints to estimate labor and material quantities for projectsPrepare detailed quantity takeoffs (LOT summaries) for electrical, lighting, and specialty itemsManage direct subtrade work and solicit quotes from trades like fire alarm, generators, and site utilitiesReview architectural, mechanical, and other trade documents to identify potential impacts on electrical projectsAssess project profitability to inform business decisionsIdentify opportunities to increase project profitability and propose solutionsPrepare and submit competitive bids in accordance with client specificationsMaintain accurate records of past tenders, including outcomes and lessons learnedUtilize estimating software to create and manage high-quality estimatesCreate comprehensive project handover packages and participate in handover meetingsWork closely with project managers to evaluate labor and material costs and ensure project successPerform other duties as required within the scope of the positionPerks and BenefitsHealth and Dental benefits, plus HSA top-up of $2,500/yearRRSP Matching programYear-end bonuses based on performanceTake ownership of jobs and see projects from start to finish (A-Z)Work on a diverse range of projectsOpportunity to build a long-term career with a well-established and growing companyLong tenured high performing staff with a wealth of knowledge and experienceSalary is commensurate with experience.Typical Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm, overtime is required at times depending on workload and deadlines.If you are interested and believe you meet the specified qualifications, please reply to this ad with your Resume.We thank all applicants for their interest in Express Employment Professionals; however, only those candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.Express Employment Professionals is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
