Indigenous Climate Action (ICA) is looking for someone who is ambitious, personable and passionately committed to true Indigenous Climate Justice to serve as the Executive Manager to the Executive Director. This position requires a deep understanding of the intersectional approaches of climate justice and Indigenous rights in order to support the leadership for ICA.


This is a remote, work from home, online working position with priority given to Indigenous people who live in so-called Canada.

Position Summary


The Executive Manager is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the governance and logistical needs of the ICA Board of Directors, National Steering Committee (NSC) and select ICA community-based events. Providing executive, administrative governance and relationship support to the Executive Director and the Leadership Team. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for the ICA Board, NSC and be lead planner for Stewardship-led community events. 



The Executive Manager should be well-organized, understanding the importance of timing and setting, responding to crises and setbacks, working with a diverse fast-paced team and have great time management skills and be able to act without guidance.




Experience working with Indigenous-led organizations and structures that challenges systems of colonization, white supremacy, patriarchy and capitalism is an asset.




Job Responsibilities


Reporting to the Executive Director, the Executive Manager will:





  • Support ICA Board governance, meeting and reporting needs. Including assisting in planning agendas, preparing materials, minute taking, writing reports, and coordinating meetings
  • Support ICA Board operations with development of Board related policies and governance procedures
  • Act as primary point of contact for the ICA Board in relation to logistics and governance needs
  • Establish and maintain boards and work plans for the ICA Board, NSC and Stewardship-led events
  • Work with the Stewardship Pod to develop an internal engagement strategy that informs the National Steering Committee, while nurturing and strengthening ICA’s internal relationships with our National Steering Committee, coordinating opportunities for the National Steering Committee to engage with ICA affiliated communities, and present updates to ICA Staff
  • Liaise with the National Steering Committee on a regularly scheduled basis
  • Support the planning and facilitation of quarterly NSC newsletter; developing the quarterly newsletter content
  • Schedule quarterly National Steering Committee meetings and committee meetings, create meeting minutes, host and chair meetings, invite appropriate ICA Team members, determine and support next steps (support letter, networking, event planning and updating monday.com board activity log)
