Our Hamilton (Stoney Creek), ON office is currently seeking a motivated and experienced seller-doer Senior Electrical Engineer to support our growing civil design practice. The Senior Engineer would be responsible for supporting the pursuit of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects in collaboration with the civil practice leads, deliver electrical engineering assignments including condition assessments and design, and support hiring a team of electrical and instrumentation designers. Expertise in condition assessment, design, and construction of municipal water and wastewater pumping and treatment facilities is considered essential.


Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  1. Support the pursuit of proposals in collaboration with senior leads.
  2. Deliver electrical engineering assignments including condition assessments, preliminary design, detailed design, utility coordination, ESA permitting, Short-Circuit & Coordination Studies, tender support, shop drawing review, field inspection, and commissioning support.
  3. Grow an electrical and instrumentation design practice in Ontario by recruiting, training, and mentoring electrical/I&C designers and support staff.
  4. Coordinate business development activities within the civil design practice; identify key hires, clients / business areas, growth strategy, and capture strategy.
  5. Exemplify commitment to technical excellence balanced with client-expectations and satisfaction, and profitable project management. Serve as a technical leader and mentor.
  6. Serve as a role model for leadership, company culture, and values.
  7. Work with the marketing team and others to develop GEI “brand” within practice.
  8. Develop a networking relationship with practitioners across the company.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Minimum Bachelor’s Degree, with preference to an M.S. degree and Ontario Professional Engineers licensing.
  2. 15 years of electrical engineering experience with a minimum of 10 years specializing in the Ontario municipal water and wastewater industry.
  3. Experience in instrumentation and control design and SCADA integration is considered a strong asset.
  4. Strong understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code and NFPA guidelines as it relates to water and wastewater facilities.
  5. Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
  6. Willingness and ability to travel to GEI branch offices, and project/client sites as required.
  7. Valid Ontario driver’s license.
  8. Resumes shall include a minimum of 3 project examples completed by the applicant within the past 10 years, including client name, location, and project scope.
  9. A minimum of 2 references shall be included in the resume.
