Job Information

The regional rehabilitation teams in Fort Smith, Hay River, Inuvik, and Yellowknife provide audiology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and speech language pathology services. Each team is responsible for delivering services within the community where they are located as well as other smaller communities, utilizing methods like community travel clinics and telehealth. The Child Development Teams are located within the Yellowknife and Inuvik rehabilitation teams. As the Rehabilitation Assistant with the Audiology department located in Yellowknife, you will be supporting practitioners, maintaining inventories, and assisting with assessments and treatment plans, serving clients on an inpatient, outpatient, community, and school basis.

The ideal candidate should possess knowledge and skills in operating a desktop computer for email communication and internet research, as well as proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications. Effective oral and written communication, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential. The ability to work in a team and a commitment to diversity, inclusion, cultural awareness, safety, and sensitivity in the workplace are also required.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by: Certification as a Communication Disorders Assistant, Audiology Aide or Rehabilitation Assistant from an accredited Canadian institution is recommended, however equivalent education, training and experience would also be considered.
