The Opportunity:
WSP has a new opportunity for an Environmental Field Technician working out of our GTA-Central region.
You'll be part of our growing Site Assessment and Remediation team and will be responsible for conducting field work related to monitoring, investigating, remediating, and reclaiming contaminated sites. You will be self-motivated and will demonstrate strong time management and communication skills.

A day in the life:
- Providing technical services, primarily in the field, related to environmental science and engineering
- Preparing and adhering to site-specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminate risks to you, WSP's clients, employees, and the public
- Identifying and reporting potential and existing site hazards, near loss incidents, and loss incidents
- Maintaining excellent field notes and collecting and handling soil and groundwater samples while adhering to current industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Carrying out fieldwork (e.g. groundwater monitoring, soils sampling through test pit excavations or borehole drilling, subcontractor supervision, and drilling investigations, etc.) or office assignments under the direction of more experienced scientists and technical employees
- Supervising subcontractors for ground disturbance and utility location, surveying, borehole drilling, groundwater monitoring well installation, and test pit excavation
- Overseeing remedial contractors including directing remedial excavations, waste tracking, and progress reporting
- Preparing and coordinating project documentation, subcontractors, and equipment for field programs
- Filing and managing all project-related field notes including some data entry and assistance with report preparation
- Performing and recording work tasks as requested efficiently and accurately while adhering to current industry standards and regulatory requirements
- You will always ensure health and safety policies are followed at all sites and take WSP's Life-Saving rules to heart
What you'll bring to WSP ...
- Technical diploma or Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. environmental sciences, environmental technology)
- Previous experience with soil and groundwater sampling is an asset
- Strong awareness of health and safety issues and a safety-conscious attitude
- An Ontario Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and strong verbal and written communication in English are essential.
