Job Opportunity: Victim Services Caseworker

The City of Chilliwack is seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to fill the role of Victim Services Caseworker. This position requires a strong understanding of the needs of victims of crime and the ability to provide emotional support and practical assistance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend crisis scenes and provide emotional support to victims and witnesses
  • Assist police with next-of-kin notifications and liaison with agencies to obtain immediate services
  • Provide ongoing emotional support to victims of crime and trauma
  • Make referrals to appropriate agencies for services such as counseling, financial assistance, and legal advice
  • Update clients on the progress of police investigations and aid victims in completing CVAP applications and victim impact statements
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary courses in Criminology or Social Sciences, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Experience working in a police agency or within the criminal justice system, an asset
  • Familiarity with PRIME and/or JUSTIN, an asset
  • Able to obtain and maintain RCMP Security Clearance
  • Able to perform clerical, typing, and receptionist duties with minimal supervision
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department officials and other members of staff
Working Conditions:

This position requires being on-call with a rotational schedule to support the workforce. The incumbent will be responsible for performing tasks associated with clerical 'housekeeping' duties.

The rate of pay for this position is $35.26 per hour.
