A candidate for this position should be a motivated and driven administrative professional with a high attention to detail, who enjoys maintaining a very organized work environment and have well developed time management skills.

This position, reporting to the Lead of the Financial Admin Support Team (FAST), will play a crucial role in supporting financial activities within the FAST and Industry Solutions. Specifically, the selected candidate will work closely with the Research Financial Admin (RFA) to facilitate financial and administrative tasks within the FAST. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that financial administrative functions are carried out diligently and promptly, providing the Lead with a high level of confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the RFA in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for research grants and contracts.
  • Aid in the preparation of budgeting and forecasting templates for research centers.
  • Support audits and financial reviews of research projects by compiling relevant supporting documents.
  • Update dashboards to monitor project budgets and expenditures for research initiatives.
  • Gather information for financial analyses and projections related to research projects.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information discreetly.
  • Assist the RFA and Financial Coordinators (FC) on completing Accounts Receivable/ Accounts Payables tasks
  • Prepare and enter journal entries.
  • Assist in updating the Research Admin Module (RAM) Database.
  • Support the FAST in completing special projects.
  • Perform other tasks as required.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong customer service focus, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an Accounting Diploma or Accounting Degree (2nd year preferred).
  • 1 year of related experience would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required, while Microsoft Power Apps skills would be an asset.

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration: $15.00 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of vacation and statutory holidays. (Classification - Student-Relief)

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
