Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Genetic Counsellor to join our team at UBC. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing genetic counselling and conducting research related to the integration of genetic counsellors in primary care settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain accurate patient case history files through interviews and data analysis.
  • Elicit patient and family concerns, and analyze inheritance patterns to provide informed genetic counselling.
  • Summarize complex genetic information and provide education to patients and families.
  • Maintain follow-up contacts with patients and families, and stay up-to-date with developments in medical genetics.
  • Collaborate with clinical, technical, and student staff to achieve research goals.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Medical Genetics or Genetic Counselling, with one year of internship experience or equivalent.
  • Board eligibility for certification under the Canadian Association of Genetic Counselling or American Board of Genetic Counselling.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
