Health Care Aide Job Description

Summary: Provide compassionate care to residents in a dynamic and supportive environment, utilizing strong communication and problem-solving skills to deliver exceptional service.

As a Health Care Aide, you will play a critical role in enhancing the lives of residents in our communities. Your day will be filled with opportunities to make a meaningful impact, from maintaining accurate records to providing personalized care and support.

  • Maintain resident records and required documentation in accordance with policies and procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Perform medication assistance and care tasks, including:
    • BP monitoring
    • Catheter care
    • Assistance with ROM, mobility/movement exercises
    • Medication assistance/administration, including eye drops, eye ointments, inhalers, nebulizers, PRN medication, insulin injections, transdermal medication patch, inserting rectal suppository, application of topical ointments
  • Monitor resident well-being in accordance with the policy of the residence.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support common area cleaning, laundry and resident care assignments.
  • Complete all aspects of resident care as outlined in the personal service plan.
  • Answer all resident call bells and door alarms promptly and provide courteous service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of Care Aid certificate program.
  • Medication Certification.
  • Current First Aid/CPR training and experience with medication assistance.
  • Excellent command of the verbal and written English language skills.
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check.

Wage Leveling rate of pay $29.83 per hour until such time that wage leveling ends, then the pay rate will reflect the collective agreement pay rates.
