Responsibilities - what will you be doing: The System Application Specialist provides technical expertise on multiple projects implementing, configuring, and upgrading web-based software. Responsibility includes remote software application/interface setup, configuration, testing / validation, and training. This position is completely remote for the time being but as circumstances could change in the future, an Edmonton-based applicant is preferred.
  • Provides services such as remote software configuration, product support, and troubleshooting of applications, interfaces, and equipment.
  • Provides customer implementation and go-live support as needed.
  • Provides technical support to customer during planning and software installation, application setup and interface testing.
  • Provides training for software and interfaces.
  • Works with customer to create, update, validate and test interfaces to labs, payment systems, internal applications/systems, etc.
  • Creates, updates and tests reports.
  • Works closely with Project Manager, external customer and technical teams .
  • Coordinates and tracks day-to-day activities required to ensure project tasks are completed on time.
  • Communicates progress and outcomes against goals to Project Manager and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attends regular status meetings with project team.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and engagement with customer.
  • Utilizes time, project and support tracking tools.
  • Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline preferred; combination of training and experience is acceptable
  • 5 years of experience in software industry is required
  • IT and/or software implementation experience is required
  • SQL Server or Oracle database experience is required
  • Experience with design and development of enterprise level web applications is required
  • Programming experience: Lua preferred but JavaScript acceptable
  • Experience working with external customers is preferred
  • Experience with Java development is an asset
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong written communication skills, verbal communication/ listening skills
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision coupled with ability to work in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams
