As an Inventory Manager, you will be responsible for participating in and executing inventory strategies across the plant to ensure consistent and high-quality delivery, while supporting and driving key business objectives. You will also be responsible for understanding and complying with all standards, controls, policies, procedures, and regulations to manage inventory effectively and efficiently across the Company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, implement, and execute the necessary inventory control procedures to maintain the accuracy of inventory transactions and the quantities on hand as recorded in the ERP system.
  • Schedule, execute, and participate in inventory counts as well as regular cyclical counts.
  • Oversee and participate in physical inventory and reconciliation processes.
  • Compile and maintain inventory records from cycle counting and material usage reports.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing Team to ensure optimum inventory levels to ensure all orders ship by promised dates.
  • Handle escalations and work with the management team to reconcile variances.
  • Record the quality, quantity, type, style, and any other characteristic of goods that the organization holds in inventory to provide accurate representation of what the organization has and what it needs.
  • Identify and track the inventory flow to identify slow-moving and dead stock.

Warehouse Optimization:

  • Analyse, plan, and execute plant layout and ensure efficient space utilization for all locations.
  • Monitor and optimize warehouse layout, storage systems, and material handling equipment to maximize space utilization and operational efficiency.
  • Manage the storage of all inventory, ensuring it is conducted in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Ensure materials and finished product are stored and transported safely.
  • Ensure the safe operation of forklifts as well as transport vehicles and ensure all vehicle paperwork are completed efficiently.
  • Ensure department and surrounding areas are always safe and secure and maintain proper housekeeping.
  • Adhere to the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safety guarding, and general safe working practices.

Team Leadership and Supervision:

  • Manage and improve operational practices for warehouse and delivery teams to modernize processes and optimize operational efficiencies, including updating of department SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), workflow, and processes.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to team and coordinate the day-to-day activities.
  • Commit to the leadership and development of team members while fostering a positive, collaborative work culture.
  • Promote and communicate lean management techniques.
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators in relation to department goals.
  • Set departmental goals for team and ensure activities are carried out in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.

Work Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a combination of environments.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds at a time.
  • Overtime as required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent related to Materials Management.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment as a Materials Leader.
  • Must have an understanding of lean manufacturing practices and principles and be able to affect change in an operations environment.
  • Possesses a strategic mindset and able to develop process improvements and projects to increase efficiency, safety, and overall operations of inventory.
  • Experience managing and leading a team.
  • Demonstrated project management skills; well organized, attentive to details.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think and respond quickly.
  • Proven track record of personal responsibility and accountability.
  • Ability to execute and prioritize tasks, commitment to tasks.
  • Clearly exchanges thoughts, ideas, and messages through written, verbal, and non-verbal methods that promote an understanding to the team.
