About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Policy Analyst to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our Public Health department, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing strategic policies and plans to advance our priorities and goals.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in policy development, planning, and accountability, with experience in building partnerships and leading work teams to advance provincial Public Health priority areas. You will also have expertise in quality improvement methodologies, financial planning, and project management, with a strong ability to analyze and interpret data to inform strategy development and organizational planning.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing strategic policies and plans to advance Public Health priorities and goals
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with stakeholders to advance provincial Public Health priority areas
  • Leading work teams and managing projects to advance provincial Public Health priority areas
  • Designing and implementing quality improvement initiatives to advance a vision of excellence in Public Health
  • Providing strategic analysis and advice to support evidence-based decision making

About You

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Baccalaureate degree in public health, health promotion, community development, health administration, or other relevant field
  • 3 years of relevant leadership experience and providing strategic, evidence-based decision support with progressive accountabilities for standards development, planning, and implementation, advising on healthy public policy, and adoption of best practices to deliver high-quality services
  • Master's Degree in a health-related discipline, health administration, business administration, or related subject considered an asset
  • Eligible for registration with relevant health discipline/college or association is an asset
  • Certification or additional training in Quality Improvement, Design Thinking, Process Mapping, IAP2, Project Management, and/or Change Management an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of public health systems
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision skills
  • Experience in leading complex change
  • Expertise in healthy public policy processes, public health sciences, healthy equity, health promotion practice, and non-communicable disease prevention
  • Evidence-based collaborative problem-solving of complex multifaceted issues
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills that are responsive to audience needs
  • Competency in evidence-based practice and critical appraisal
  • Strong analysis and synthesis skills to inform strategy development and organizational planning
  • Expertise in financial planning and monitoring
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management and knowledge of issue tracking, issue management, and escalation
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and approaches. Ability to develop systems to monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks
  • Experience in development standards, protocols, and guidelines to support Public Health and workforce development plans and strategies
  • Experience in using evidence-based decision making to support workforce planning and development
  • Ability to analyze and interpret, monitor, and report on quantitative and qualitative data
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours
  • Permanent Full Time / 100% FTE/ 75 Hours Bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits

$47.01 Hourly
