Job Summary:
The Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is seeking a skilled and dedicated Caretaker to join our team. As a Caretaker, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our schools, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of school facilities, including classrooms, hallways, and common areas
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, painting, and repairing equipment and furniture
- Assist with the setup and teardown of events and activities
- Provide general support to teachers and staff as needed
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of the school
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in a custodial or maintenance role an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects
