Job Description

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) is a key member of our inter-professional care team, working collaboratively with nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care. As a PSW, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting clients with activities of daily living, including feeding, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting
  • Performing tasks delegated by a registered nurse or registered practical nurse, in compliance with relevant legislation and policies
  • Communicating effectively with clients and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care delivery
  • Ensuring a safe environment for clients and staff by reporting and documenting any safety concerns
  • Completing and maintaining accurate client records and progress notes
Qualifications

To be successful as a PSW, you will need:

  • A diploma or certificate in Personal Support Work from an accredited community college
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Behavioral management training (such as PIECES, U-First, CPI) is considered an asset
  • The ability to handle daily physical demands, including standing, walking, and lifting
  • A current Food Handler's Certificate is an asset
