Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Project Coordinator, Facilities. The Project Coordinator will play a key role in the Facilities team. Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Engineering, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Facilities team and various internal and external stakeholders in support of service activities, capital projects, as well as major maintenance activities that support business operations.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

  • Education: Post secondary diploma in related field such as Construction Engineering diploma.
  • Experience: 2-4 years' experience in a construction or design related environment.
  • Problem solving skills and experience with project planning and document management.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of project budgeting and scheduling.

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Management:
    • Complete contract tasks including, project requisitioning, invoice receiving, and cost reporting for the capital program.
  • Financial Management:
    • Participate in capital planning and infrastructure risk analyses.
    • Participate in period end financial reporting.
    • Ownership of assigned capital and expense budget items.
  • Support Daily Operations:
    • Manage ongoing service activities with a Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) approach in support of business operations for service initiation, execution, and completion.
    • Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Project Management:
    • Manage and maintain project delivery files, ensuring all required documentation is accurate, present, and completed during the required stages of project delivery.
    • Support the assembly of project documents such as budgets, schedule preparation, presentations and technical reports.
  • Process Management:
    • Continuous improvement and development of process maps and work instructions outlining best practices for managing various systems.
