About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our winter seasonal snow removal team at the Brucejack Mine in Northwestern, British Columbia. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating heavy equipment to excavate, move, load, and grade earth, rock, gravel, or other materials during construction and operations activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, bulldozers, rock trucks, loaders, and graders in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Move, load, and unload cargo using rigging practices, forks, and forklifts, and assess loads and read load limit charts.
  • Complete safe work tasks, JHAs, and FLRHA.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate, and refill equipment.
  • Prepare the working area and adhere to all job safety requirements prior to starting work, keeping the work site safe and free of hazards when possible.
  • Set up and inspect equipment prior to use.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment being operated.
  • Participate in any other site-specific training.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with experience in more than one piece of equipment, previous experience with project-specific equipment, and previous camp experience. Some high school, college, or industry courses in heavy equipment operating combined with on-the-job training are required. Certification in workplace hazardous materials information system (WHMIS) and TDG - transportation of dangerous goods are also necessary. Internal company certification or sign-off may be required. You must be able to work at a remote location (camp) on a 13 days on/13 days off rotation, pass a pre-employment medical screening, and lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift. You must also be able to maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts and work in areas of extreme weather conditions.
