Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled NIHB Support Specialist to join our team at Qalipu First Nation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of financial, administrative, and clerical services in the processing of NIHB claims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and process NIHB claims in a timely and accurate manner
  • Prepare and maintain records, adhering to Records Management procedures
  • Monitor payments and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients and providers
  • Process and coordinate accommodations, transportation, and meals for members, adhering to Health Canada's guidelines
  • Process and coordinate member's Non-Insured Health Benefit claims
  • Respond to member queries regarding claims and benefits
  • Prepare preapprovals and process mental health counselling claims
  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to management and other staff, as required
  • Ensure files are stored and maintained as per the Qalipu Electronic Records Management System and Quality Management Protocols
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Business or Office Administration or other similar education
  • Two years of related experience with similar employment
  • Knowledge of office administration and records management procedures
  • Knowledge of data entry systems
  • Confidentiality concerning client health and financial records
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including the ability to operate spreadsheet and word-processing programs
Working Conditions

This is an office-based position with duties predominantly met during regular working hours. Some travel, overtime, and flexibility of work schedule may be required.

  • Annual Leave: FT employees - Three weeks per year
  • Statutory and Non-Statutory Holidays: Employees are entitled to 13 days off to cover Statutory and Non-statutory holidays per year
  • Summer Office Hours: Office hours during the summer months are from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Thursday, Friday 8:30 am to 12:30 pm
  • Christmas Break: the office closes down during the Christmas break

  • Registered Pension Plan: QFN has a pension plan, FT employees contribute from 4 to 7%, employee contributions are matched by the Band
  • FT Sick and Family Medical: Full Time Employees are entitled to 12 paid sick and family medical days per year
  • Under 2 hours Medical Appointment: Employees may attend an appointment of less than 2 hours with no deductions to Sick and Family Medical
  • Discretionary Bereavement: One day off per year for the death of a relative not included as immediate family, a close friend or neighbor
  • Volunteer Program: Employees may volunteer outside of the organization up to 21 hours per year
