Senior UX Researcher

CBC Digital Strategy & Products is seeking a highly skilled Senior UX Researcher to join our team. As a Senior UX Researcher, you will play a key role in shaping the user experience of our digital products and services.

About the Role
  • Lead user experience research initiatives for product discovery and delivery, working closely with Product Managers and Directors to define research direction, identify knowledge gaps, and propose research initiatives.
  • Advance UX Research maturity at CBC DS&P by enhancing and streamlining processes and workflows to boost productivity and achieve research goals.
  • Champion accessibility and inclusivity as core values in all UX Research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Research Initiatives
    • Identify and prioritize key research initiatives and track user behaviour trends.
    • Collaborate with product teams and stakeholders to identify and prioritize research initiatives that align with quarterly objectives and product strategy.
    • Provide thought leadership to pinpoint evolving user behaviour trends that could influence the future user experience.
    • Lead the development and review of a cross-product research roadmap.
    • Secure buy-in from product teams and DS&P leadership for research initiatives.
  • Research Execution
    • Execute end-to-end research initiatives, including gathering requirements, planning activities, recruiting participants, collecting and analyzing data, and sharing findings.
    • Lead collaborative research efforts by aligning goals, fostering teamwork, and facilitating successful outcomes.
    • Identify and coordinate large, intersecting research initiatives to avoid duplication and maintain a clear focus on outcomes.
  • Knowledge Sharing
    • Take a lead role in disseminating UX research knowledge throughout CBC DS&P by effectively communicating research findings (both past and present) to relevant stakeholders.
    • Develop strategies to help the organization understand the purpose and benefits of UX research.
  • Collaboration
    • Build relationships with other CBC research departments to share research insights and identify opportunities for collaboration.
    • Promote knowledge sharing among CBC departments that impact the user experience and product development.
  • Methodologies and Innovation
    • Regularly review and update research methodologies to stay current with evolving best practices in the user experience field.
    • Explore innovative UX research technologies to enhance data gathering and synthesis.
  • Operations and Accessibility
    • Help lead the management and optimization of processes, tools, and practices supporting UX research activities.
    • Ensure all UX research activities prioritize inclusivity and accessibility, and promote diversity.
  • Mentorship and Guidance
    • Provide guidance to junior UX researchers by providing feedback on their work, sharing best practices, and offering advice on skill development.
    • Guide and educate the product team to engage in independent research initiatives, integrating continuous discovery methods.
Key Qualifications
  • Experience: 5+ years of applied UX research experience, with a proven track record delivering valuable insights for product development and improvement.
  • Education: A degree in a behavioural research related field (psychology, human-centred interaction, user experience design) or equivalent work experience.
