THE OPPORTUNITY

Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. ("Triton") is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic Aquatic Biologists, at all experience levels, to join a well-established team of environmental professionals in our Edmonton office

You will get the chance to be part of some exciting ongoing projects that are integral to building the local and provincial community. This position will appeal to individuals who have a passion for working outdoors and who thrive working in a dynamic and fast-paced consulting environment. Successful candidates will be part of a team building world-class projects that balance environmental stewardship with responsible resource development.

Responsibilities, depending on experience level, include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Leading aquatic and/or terrestrial field programs
  • Supervising and training junior field staff
  • Providing technical leadership within a team environment
  • Liaising with on-site client representatives and contractors
  • Data collection, compilation, and reporting
  • Working collaboratively within the Triton corporate culture
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and qualifications, ranging with experience level, will be in the following areas:
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biology or related field
  • .Biol. or eligibility for registration with the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists or equivalent professional designation is preferred.
  • Having previous experience with aquatic biology is preferred.
  • Technical knowledge in aquatics and/or terrestrial biology
  • Field experience leading aquatic and/or terrestrial programs
  • Experience with environmental monitoring and/or environmental inspection
  • Multi-jurisdictional knowledge of environmental regulations, policies, and permit application processes
  • Adept in the operation and maintenance of required field equipment
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
  • Superior problem-solving skills, with the ability to think outside the box
  • Proficient in the operation of off-highway vehicles
  • Valid driver's licence from a Canadian province or territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting
  • Experience providing monitoring and/or inspection services on pipeline construction projects is considered an asset.
  • Experience operating boats, including jet-drive is considered an asset.

This position will entail working in the field. Candidates must be able to travel and work remotely for durations of up to three weeks at a time.

For more senior level candidates, there could be potential to do more office-based work and/or later consideration of getting involved in more project coordination/management related work.
