SAIT is seeking casual instructors to teach substantive law courses in the upcoming Winter 2025 and Spring/Summer 2025 semester.
The School of Business at SAIT is a global leader in applied education, offering action-based learning, solution-focused research, and enterprising collaborations with partners from around the world. We deliver programming to over 3,800 students in credit programs and 10,000 registrants annually in our professional and leadership programs.
**Job Description:**
* Create learning activities and authentic assessments that encourage active and participatory learner engagement and an experiential classroom culture that promotes career-ready skills.
* Cultivate and nurture inclusive learning environments and engage with students about their progress and success and excellence.
* Champion current and innovative pedagogical practices, reflecting adult teaching methodologies and best practices.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders of the program, and school and institution to support regular instructional and program quality improvement.
* Manage and lead a safe, positive, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment that allows students to express, share, and challenge ideas respectfully.
* Present courses, lesson plans, lectures, assignments, evaluations, examinations, and learning activities; include additional study materials for learners.
* Evaluate student progress and facilitate student achievement.
* Respond to academic integrity concerns and report to Academic Chair for follow-up as required.
* Ensure learner accommodations are correctly applied for learners with disabilities.
* Show personal interest in the learners.
* Create a climate conducive to optimal learning.
* Coordinate classroom delivery and assessments with faculty colleagues.
* Refer students to institutional supports and campus services including counselling, academic advising, tutoring, career advancement services, technology support, accessibility services, and financial support as required.
* Provide ongoing support, guidance, and advice to learners and potential learners.
* Contribute in a positive way to maintain a team environment.
* Attend and engage in meetings, professional development opportunities, and beyond.
* Maintain and develop contacts in appropriate industry sectors.
* Maintain and develop relationships with academic colleagues.
* Promote and support SAIT's and the School of Business mission statement and academic plans.
* Commitment to Professional Development and a continual learning culture.
**Qualifications:**
* Depth of knowledge and expertise in the legal industry, including experience in the relevant field.
* A minimum of 3 - 5 years of Industry Experience.
* An aptitude for digital literacy.
* Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, both written and oral, as well as well-developed interpersonal and organizational skills are essential.
* Work well in a team environment, and be able to excel in a collaborative environment.
* Previous teaching experience is required, experience at the post-secondary level is preferred.
* A Law Degree is required, Master's Degree or higher is an asset.
* Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
