**Financial Analyst I Job Description**

The City of Vancouver is seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst I to join our team in the Finance, Risk & Supply Chain Management department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing financial analysis and support to the Utility Division.

**Key Responsibilities:**
  • Provide financial analysis and support to the Utility Division, including budget preparation, financial reporting, and forecasting.
  • Coordinate and calculate utility fees billed to property owners, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Conduct research and analysis into cost component structures, including reporting on the implementation of financial aspects of agreements.
  • Liaise with other departments and provide coordination on issues involving internal audits, risk management, and insurance requirements.
  • Assist the Engineer with the review of business processes and the development of strategic initiatives.
**Requirements:**
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in commerce, accounting, finance, economics, or business administration.
  • Five years of increasingly responsible professional experience in accounting, finance, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Designation or eligibility as a Professional Accountant.
  • Experience in negotiating and mediating problems, as well as investigating and correcting errors or discrepancies in data reporting.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
  • Basic knowledge of municipal financial reporting standards and regulations.
  • Good knowledge of data entry, database access, word processing, spreadsheet development, and computer applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills, and clear and accurate report writing.
  • Proven financial analytical abilities to research, compile, and summarize varied information.
