Pharmacy Technician role at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC, involves processing medication orders, preparing prescriptions, and maintaining accurate records.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of pharmacy procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for:

  • Processing clinically reviewed and approved medication orders for distribution to patients, clients, or residents.
  • Receiving prescriptions from practitioners and ensuring they are complete and authentic.
  • Preparing and processing prescriptions by entering orders, counting, measuring, packaging, or re-packaging medications and compounding sterile pharmaceutical products.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions prepared by self or others.
  • Processing prescriptions for temporary inpatient leaves of absence.
  • Entering and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of drug and personal health information in the pharmacy information system.
  • Transferring prescriptions to and receiving prescriptions from other pharmacies.
  • Maintaining accurate records, including medication verification and quality assurance checks.
  • Distributing medications and maintaining relevant inventory, wardstock, and narcotic records.
  • Maintaining inventory and wardstock levels, filling requisitions, and identifying outdated drugs for return or destruction.
  • Performing related clerical duties, such as keyboarding, answering the phone, filing, and maintaining medication and prescription records.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 and graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current practicing registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to keyboard.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
