Security & Parking Officer

Join our team as a Security & Parking Officer at the University of Northern British Columbia. As a key member of our security team, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of our university community.

About the Role
  • Conduct active patrols of university parking lots, buildings, and properties to ensure campus security and remove any safety hazards.
  • Act as the first responder on site and provide emergency first aid and medical services to university community members and visitors.
  • Monitor and maintain first aid supplies, alarms, and closed-circuit camera systems.
  • Provide "Safe Walk" services to students and staff, issue parking citations, and provide security services for university events.
  • Respond to calls, participate in investigations of incidents, and prepare incident reports.
  • Ensure facilities are appropriately locked or unlocked as needed, and use judgment and discretion to contact and assist external agencies when necessary.
Qualifications
  • A high school diploma.
  • Minimum of one year related experience.
  • Occupational First Aid Certificate Level II.
  • Valid B.C. Security Worker License.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
  • A clear criminal record check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certificates in Mental Health First Aid, Crisis Prevention Intervention training, A.S.I.S.T, and conflict resolution.
  • Experience in law enforcement, firefighting, ambulance service, search and rescue, and mental health services.
