Salary:

WJ Groundwater is the leading construction dewatering and groundwater specialist in the UK with operations in Canada, the Middle East, Poland, the Philippines, and South Korea. We have specialized plant and equipment that allows us to install custom dewatering and water treatment systems in various environments including from within tunnels and shafts and from the surface.

The principal function of this position is to support the WJCA Management team through identifying and advertising job vacancies, screening candidates, and assisting in the selection of and initiating offers of employment to successful candidates.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Work with department heads to identify current and prospective staffing requirements.
  • Prepare and post advertisements for open positions and collect and screen applications.
  • Advise job applicants on employment requirements and on terms and conditions of employment.
  • Review candidate inventories and contact potential applicants to arrange screenings and interviews.
  • Post to university, college, and other institution job boards to recruit new graduates and seasonal interns.
  • Assist with international transferee, visa, and work permit applications for intra-company transfers.
  • Coordinate and participate in the evaluation and selection of candidates.
  • Notify applicants of results of selection process and prepare job offers.
  • Advise managers and employees on staffing policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and confirm full and accurate completion of new employee paperwork and files.
  • Assist with the preparation and onboarding of new employees.

The above is not exhaustive and you will be expected to undertake any other duties which may reasonably fall within the level of responsibility and competence.

Qualifications & Experience

A motivated and hardworking individual with good written and verbal communication skills and with a minimum of 2 years' experience in human resources or recruiting is essential.

  • A college diploma in a field related to personnel management such as HR or business administration or completion of a professional development program in personnel administration is required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively over the phone and conduct interviews with candidates from a wide range of educational and employment backgrounds and experiences.
  • Exceptional organization skills with the ability to prioritize own workload and tasks.
  • High level of initiative and attention to detail is essential. Self-motivated and the drive to improve processes.
  • Experience processing immigration documents such as visas and work permits is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment and/or within the construction industry is considered an asset.

The initial duration of the position will be 6-months with the potential of extension based on Company staffing needs.
