About the Role

The Resident Engagement Assistant plays a critical role in our communities, fostering meaningful connections between residents and our team. This is a permanent part-time position that requires a unique blend of creativity, empathy, and technical skills.

Schedule Rotation

Our schedule rotation is designed to ensure a balanced and engaging work environment. Here's an overview of the schedule:

  • Week 1:
    • Monday: 9:00am-2:00pm
    • Friday: 9:00am-2:00pm
    • Saturday: 8:30am-4:30pm
  • Week 2:
    • Sunday: 8:30am-4:30pm
    • Tuesday: 9:00am-2:00pm
    • Wednesday: 9:00am-2:00pm
    • Thursday: 9:00am-2:00pm
Key Responsibilities

As a Resident Engagement Assistant, your day will be filled with opportunities to:

  • Promote a dynamic culture that encourages resident wellbeing, choice, and engagement
  • Develop and implement programs that meet the needs and interests of our residents
  • Collaborate with our team to create innovative resident experiences and programs
  • Leverage technology to enhance and promote in-suite and group programming
  • Support our volunteer program and identify opportunities for growth and development
  • Work in accordance with our Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A degree or diploma in Gerontology, Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Studies, Health Promotion, or Health Sciences
  • Experience working with seniors, including an understanding of motivational concepts and health, wellbeing, and leisure principles
  • Certification in teaching land group fitness and aquatic fitness to seniors (or willingness to obtain within the first 60 days)
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Familiarity with the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual technologies such as Zoom and Skype
