Environmental Field Technician/Environmental Planner sought for permanent, full-time position in Calgary, Alberta, to support team growth and contribute to environmental projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with field and project management teams, playing an integral role in the expansion of operations, and will be responsible for conducting biophysical assessments, performing wildlife sweeps and nest searches, and analyzing field data to develop management and mitigation strategies.

Key skills and qualifications include strong organizational skills, flexibility and adaptability, familiarity with environmental permitting and approvals process, and experience in wildlife sweeps, wetland assessments, and field data collection.

  • Job Responsibilities:
    • Conduct Biophysical Assessments
    • Perform Wildlife Sweeps and Nest Searches
    • Carry out Targeted Species Surveys
    • Complete Wetland Assessments
    • Analyze field data to develop management and mitigation strategies
    • Deliver accurate and timely technical reports
    • Liaise with on-site client representatives and contractors
    • Assist the Project Manager in preparing and supporting regulatory applications
    • Assist with other responsibilities as needed to contribute to the overall success of the team
  • Requirements:
    • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail
    • Flexibility and adaptability to changing work environments
    • Familiarity with the environmental permitting and approvals process
    • Knowledge of AER OneStop system (an asset)
    • Understanding of Sensitive Species Inventory Guideline protocols
    • Knowledge of the Public Land Act (an asset)
    • Familiarity with local, provincial, and federal environmental legislation (an asset)
    • Experience in wildlife sweeps, wetland assessments, plant and wildlife identification, field data collection, and reporting
    • Eligibility for Alberta's Professional Regulatory Organizations
    • Willingness to learn and grow in the role
    • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate field findings
    • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
    • Valid driver's license
