About the Job

This is a full-time position that requires a uniform security presence at various City of Brampton locations, including the Rose Theatre, City Hall, Civic Centre, and other Downtown Brampton facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to and report incidents of criminal activity, suspicious activity, and hazardous situations
  • Unlock and lock doors and offices
  • Provide access control and a uniform security presence
  • Deterring and enforcing prohibited acts
  • Ensure buildings are secured after hours
  • Complete patrols using an electronic guard tour
Job Duties
  • Ability to work alone or in a team
  • Conduct proactive patrols and address policy breaches
  • Write detailed incident reports
  • Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees and visitors
  • De-escalate crises and provide support
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results
  • Log in/out of Key, Radio, and pager audits
  • Handle Lost & Found items and inquiries
  • Report unsafe working conditions
  • Provide first aid and medical response
  • Respond to all types of occurrences

Job Requirements
  • Minimum one year of security experience
  • Minimum one year of security guard experience in a municipal government or corporate environment
  • Dispatch and mobile experience is an asset
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid Security License for the Province of Ontario
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification
  • Valid Ontario G Class Driver's License
  • Ability to provide 3-year clean driver's abstract
  • Physical demands: excessive walking, standing, exposed to all weather conditions and extreme temperatures
  • Utilize two-way radio and computer applications
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Must participate in professional development and on-site leveling system requirements
  • Must be flexible with shift availability
  • Previous experience or training within a loss prevention/security field is preferred
  • Must complete all required site training within 30 days of on-site hire date
  • Additional job-related tasks and duties as assigned
