Reporting to the Manager, IT Applications Operations, the Application Administrator has overall accountability of the applications they support. This role interacts with other administrators (server, network, database) and project teams, to ensure application availability and to maintain the technical environment, including software, security/access management, capacity management, monitoring and performance.
This position also acts as the Tools Specialist, responsible for the tools supporting the application for example the development, configuration management, knowledge, requirements management and other tools. The Application Administrator also configures and sets up the tools, and also verifies that the product works to the defined specifications.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide Support for Mission Critical Applications by managing prod and non-prod environments.
- Deploy new applications and releases in collaboration with cross functional IT team.
- Manage capacity, availability, continuity and security of various applications environments.
- Monitor applications performance Logs, investigate issues and execute tuning and maintenance tasks.
- Perform service restoration tasks and activities related to incident, problem, change and release management processes.
- Deliver high quality results on assigned applications project tasks.
- Ensure compliance of mission critical systems with AESO standards
- Automate application administration functions through Bash and PowerShell scripting.
- Support datacenter maintenance, annual business continuity and IT security exercises as Application Administrator
- Provide 24X7 on-call support on rotation with four other application administrators.
- Must have experience working with Windows servers, Red hat Linux, Oracle and SQL server databases,
- Tomcat, Azure API, JDBC, Java EE/SE and JDK 17, Redis, spring boots/ Hibernate and security certificates.
What you'll bring to us:
- Degree in Computer Science, IT or related field, or a Diploma in IT Administration with equivalent work experience.
- Certification in ITIL Foundations preferred.
- 5+ years of industry experience.
- Preferably having a utilities market or industry background.
- Experience with financial markets, clearing, and settlement would be considered an asset.
