Job Title: System Engineer/Architect Job ID: KB Location: Toronto, ON - HybridOverview:Our client is a specialist in providing financial services to alternative investment funds, investors, multinationals, and private clients worldwide. The Solutions Architecture and Engineering department is looking for an Engineer/Architect with deep Virtualization and Storage/SAN skills to help establish standards and technical architectures. The ideal candidate would be proficient in Linux and Windows architectures, virtualization technologies, storage systems and be familiar with databases and workload management. They would also have a good working knowledge of performance models and benchmarking methodology. They would work well with a team and show initiative with regards to providing creative solutions to technical and practical challenges. This position reports to the Solution Architecture Manager. The Architecture team plays a vital role in the development of infrastructure and technology standards, along with Research and Development activities. The work will span both on-prem and cloud (Amazon Web Services, Azure) environments. System Engineers partner with business analysts and other technical teams to define the infrastructure requirements, sizing, principles and topology diagrams that generally guide all solution decisions for the ecosystem. They are responsible for analyzing and translating business, information and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint that outlines solutions that integrate across applications, systems and platforms.What you will be doing:
  • You will contribute to the delivery of Solution Designs diagram and documentation aligned to the business requirements.
  • Ensure enterprise compliance of the delivered design
  • Ensure Solution Design takes into account load and performance objectives
  • Data loads performance benchmarking and tuning
  • Contribute to the principles that guide technology decisions for the company
  • Participate in organization architecture process optimization
  • Participate in technology standards selection and definition processes
  • Document technical design patterns for enterprise reuse
What you must have:
  • You have 4+ years of working experience in Technical Architecture or System Engineering
  • Deep knowledge of Hyper-Converged Infrastructure
  • SAN/NAS experience (CIFS, SMB, NFS, etc.)
  • DNS, network topology, and server performance analysis knowledge
  • Proficiency in Linux Shell, Windows PowerShell or Python scripting desirable
  • Automation: Ansible/Chef/Puppet Scripting Experience a plus
  • DevOps Experience desirable
  • Containerization Knowledge a plus (Kubernetes, Docker, EKS, AKS, etc.)
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills are required
Nice to have:
  • WAN acceleration/optimization (Riverbed Steelheads appliances).
  • Dynamic routing interaction with ISPs using BGP.
  • Clear understanding of how network monitoring using ICMP and SNMP.
  • Operational experience with TACACS+/Radius authentication systems (Cisco ISE).
  • Experience with Netflow analysis and using Netflow collectors.
  • Basic user level knowledge of Linux operating systems.
